Villa Giulia is a small village surrounded by greenery, between vineyards and olive trees, near the sea and the naturalistic oasis of Vendicari. The villa was conceived as a country residence and a center for processing and preserving the wines produced from the vineyards of the San Lorenzo feud. Built in 1874 according to the project conceived by Ing. Bernardo Labisi, Villa Giulia presents itself as a central body inserted between ashlars pilasters. The villa is characterized by large indoor and outdoor spaces that can be used for receptions, meetings and banquets: two lounges, the swimming pool and the portico.
The villa owes its name to Giulia Dejean (1850-1932) who had the estate of her husband (Assennato da Pachino), having acquired it from Di Lorenzo family to plant a cotton plantation.
The Noblewoman Giulia Dejean, married in second marriage with Giovanni Di Lorenzo Cannizzaro, brother of the Marquis of Castelluccio, was the author of the construction of the little house with the elevated master residence, which was built in 1874 according to the project conceived and outlined in 1813 by the civil engineer Bernardo Labisi. The building structure, however, was reduced in size and the chapel, surmounted by an interesting inverted chalice dome, was not built.
The project, whose main façade is preserved by Vincenzo Giunta Bova, father of Anna Maria Giunta, current owner, appears more dilated and with a central body inserted between ashlars pilasters. In it, the architect had placed the main entrance, with the staircase leading to the first level and a portico supported by columns and concluded by a stone parapet, that can also be seen in the residences of Frigintini and Castelluccio and in the Palazzo Trigona in Noto.
Villa Giulia, conceived as a country residence and a center for storing wines produced by the vineyards that spread over the hills of the former feud, is now a tourist-receptive structure that still shows the places of grape-pressing and the large "rooms" where in the immense barrels ripened the fragrant and strong red wines. The villa, with its houses all around, is equipped with a swimming pool and characteristic and spacious indoor and outdoor spaces, with an antique flavor, where guests can breathe the scent of past eras, relaxing in sweet solitude or in company.
